Ottershaw is a suburban village and electoral ward in the borough of Runnymede, Surrey, lying a couple of miles west of Chertsey and within easy reach of the River Thames and the M25. It retains a semi‑rural feel, with surrounding greenbelt, parkland and wooded areas around the former estate of Ottershaw Park, which gives the area a distinct village character despite its popularity with commuters.
Developed largely in the Victorian period as an estate village, Ottershaw mixes period cottages and family housing with a small village centre, a primary school and community facilities; local clubs, walking routes and conservation designations help preserve its historic character. The local economy is largely residential and service‑orientated, with many people travelling to London and nearby towns for work, while proximity to the historic Runnymede meadow adds a notable cultural and historic neighbour.
