Chertsey is a riverside market town in the borough of Runnymede, county of Surrey, in England, sitting on a meander of the River Thames a few miles west of central London. Its riverside setting and the presence of Chertsey Bridge provide attractive towpaths and boating activity, while good road and rail links - and proximity to Heathrow airport - make it a convenient commuter base.
Historically the town grew up around the medieval Chertsey Abbey, traces of which and other historic buildings give the centre character, and the nearby Runnymede meadow is famed for its association with the sealing of the Magna Carta. Today Chertsey blends local retail and light industry with a lively riverside social scene and easy access to leisure destinations such as Thorpe Park.
