Canalside is a ward of Woking in Surrey, England, named for the stretch of the Basingstoke Canal that threads through the area. The canal provides a pleasant linear green corridor and towpath popular with walkers and wildlife-watchers, while the ward sits close to the town centre and rail links, making it convenient for commuters into London.
Historically the waterway served local industry and transport, but today the neighbourhood is a mixed picture of riverside flats, older terraces, small businesses and light industrial sites, with pockets of recent regeneration. Its proximity to cultural hubs such as the New Victoria Theatre and The Lightbox, along with active community groups using the canal and open spaces, gives the area a blend of local civic life and commuter-orientated economy.
