Horsell is a suburb of Woking in Surrey, England, set against the well‑known expanse of Horsell Common. The common is a large area of heathland and woodland that provides protected open space, popular with walkers and wildlife-watchers, and it famously features in H. G. Wells’s The War of the Worlds as the site of the Martian landing.
Today Horsell has a largely residential character with local shops, schools and sports clubs and an active community life, while many residents commute into London via Woking station. Conservation areas and a mix of Victorian and later housing give the ward a village feel within easy reach of the commercial and employment opportunities of nearby Woking.
