Audenshaw is a mainly residential ward on the eastern fringe of Tameside in Greater Manchester, sitting between the urban edge of Manchester and the older towns of Ashton-under-Lyne and Denton. Its landscape is marked by the grouping of Audenshaw Reservoirs and the valley of the River Tame, which give parts of the ward a surprisingly green, semi-rural feel and easy access to walking routes towards the Pennines.
Historically the area grew with 19th-century industry and retains Victorian terraces alongside post‑war housing and small industrial estates; today it functions largely as a commuter community with good road links and nearby rail at Guide Bridge. Local life centres on community clubs, schools such as Audenshaw School, and neighbourhood retail, reflecting its working-class roots while serving the needs of a mixed, suburban population.
