Climping lies on the Sussex coast in the district of Arun, West Sussex, England, just west of Littlehampton. The parish fronts a long shingle and sandy strip known as Climping Beach, backed by salt marshes and agricultural land, and is popular with walkers and birdwatchers; a couple of caravan and holiday parks mean the population swells in summer.
The settlement itself is small and rural, with a medieval parish church and scattered hamlets including Atherington. Historically agricultural, the area today balances farming, conservation and modest tourism, retaining a quiet coastal character while remaining within easy reach of larger towns.
