Crawley Down is a village in the district of Mid Sussex, in West Sussex, England, lying between the urban edges of Crawley and the countryside towards East Grinstead. Its position a short drive from the A264 and Gatwick airport makes it popular with commuters, while the surrounding greens, commons and footpaths give easy access to the rolling landscape of the High Weald.
Once shaped by agriculture and historic ironworking in the Weald, the village expanded through 20th‑century housing and now centres on local shops, pubs, a primary school and active community groups and clubs. The balance of good transport links and a village feel, with regular local events and walking routes, helps maintain a strong local identity despite its commuter connections.
