Hassocks is an electoral ward and village in Mid Sussex, West Sussex, England, sitting on the northern fringe of the South Downs. It benefits from chalk downland scenery and good transport links, particularly the station on the Brighton Main Line that makes it a popular commuter base for both Brighton and London.
The settlement grew noticeably with the arrival of the railway in the 19th century, and local interest points include the nearby Clayton Tunnel and the historic Clayton Windmills. Today the ward combines a village high street of independent shops and small businesses with a mixed community of commuters, families and older residents, and retains a strong sense of local events and countryside access on its doorstep.
