Amesbury West is a ward in the market town of Amesbury, within the county of Wiltshire, sitting just to the north of the chalk downs of Salisbury Plain. Its setting is notable for proximity to prehistoric sites - most famously Stonehenge - and a landscape of rolling downland and small historic streets that give the area a distinct rural–town character.
Locally the economy mixes tourism linked to the ancient monuments with service and retail businesses serving residents, and a long-standing connection to nearby military garrisons on the Plain. Socially it’s a mixed community of families, commuters to Salisbury and defence personnel, supported by community groups and modest local amenities rather than heavy industry or large commercial centres.
