Clarendon Park is a small, predominantly rural parish in Wiltshire lying a few miles north of Salisbury, set on the chalk downland and wooded slopes above the River Avon. The landscape is a mixture of mixed farmland, estate woodland and open parkland centred on the historic house and grounds that give the area its name, making it popular with walkers and birdwatchers who enjoy the peaceful, lightly settled countryside.
Historically the area is notable for the remains of Clarendon Palace, a medieval royal hunting lodge and administrative site associated with Henry II and the Assize of Clarendon, which lends the parish strong historic interest despite its quiet economy of agriculture and estate management. Social life is largely linked to neighbouring villages and the estate, with heritage and conservation of the ancient woods and archaeological sites a continuing local focus.
