Pitton and Farley lie in south Wiltshire close to the city of Salisbury, set against the chalk downland that characterises the edge of Salisbury Plain. The two small villages are linked by winding lanes and public footpaths, with typical Wiltshire features such as thatched cottages, stone farm buildings and views over open countryside rather than intensive development.
Historically agricultural, the local economy still has strong farming ties but many residents commute to nearby towns for work; the villages retain a village hall, church buildings and a pub which act as focal points for community life and regular events. Interest here is more rural and social than urban - a good spot for walkers, riders and those interested in traditional village architecture and village-community activities.
