Lydiard Millicent is a small, mostly rural village and parish on the western edge of Swindon in Wiltshire, England. It sits amid gently rolling farmland and parkland, with the much-photographed Lydiard Park and its Georgian Lydiard House forming a prominent local landmark; the area’s open spaces and historic trees give a strong sense of countryside despite being close to the town and the M4.
The community has long ties to the estate that shaped its landscape, and retains a mix of traditional stone cottages, modern homes and small businesses, making it popular with commuters as well as local farmers. Social life centres on village events and the park’s cultural programme - concerts, fairs and walks - while the parish’s historic church and lanes reflect its agricultural and manorial past.
