Perham Down is a small settlement on the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, close to the towns of Tidworth and Ludgershall. The landscape is typical chalk downland with rolling fields, grazing and the archaeological traces of Bronze Age barrows and ancient trackways that characterise much of the plain.
The village’s character and economy are shaped by a long military presence - notably Perham Down Camp and extensive MOD training areas - so the community is small, service‑oriented and often linked to army life. Away from camps and ranges the area supports chalk grassland wildlife and quiet rural pursuits, giving it a mix of military, historic and natural interest.
