Tidworth is a compact garrison town on the eastern edge of Wiltshire, sitting beside the wide expanse of Salisbury Plain and close to the Hampshire border. Its identity is dominated by the military presence: Tidworth Camp and neighbouring barracks provide the main economic activity and give the town a transient, service‑orientated feel with shops, clubs and sports facilities geared towards service families as well as civilians.
The town grew up around army needs and still wears its history openly - you’ll find a historic country house, Tedworth House, and a local interest in regimental heritage alongside community events. Tidworth is well placed for access to training country and the south‑west road network (notably the A303), with larger centres such as Amesbury, Andover and Salisbury within easy reach.
