The village and civil parish of Woodborough sits in rural Wiltshire, tucked into the chalk downland of the Vale of Pewsey and close to the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It’s a small community with an agricultural history, stone cottages, a parish church and a village hall; the landscape around it is marked by country lanes, arable fields and the dotting of Bronze Age barrows and other prehistoric earthworks.
Locally the economy has long been farm-based but many residents now commute to nearby market towns such as Devizes and Marlborough, while village life is kept alive by community events, an active parish council and local clubs. Its proximity to the open training ground on Salisbury Plain and to long-distance footpaths gives the parish a pleasant mix of tranquillity and easy access for walkers and history enthusiasts.
