Ballingry is a village in west Fife, Scotland, historically built around deep‑mining and forming part of the Benarty and Lochore community cluster. It sits close to Lochore Meadows Country Park, which includes Loch Ore, and is overlooked by Benarty Hill, offering easy access to walks and broad views towards the Firth of Forth and surrounding countryside.
The closure of the pits in the late 20th century reshaped the local economy and social fabric, but the village retains a strong community identity, with regeneration projects, volunteer groups and local amenities helping to sustain it. Many people commute to nearby towns such as Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, while visitors are drawn by the area’s mining heritage and outdoor recreation opportunities.
