Kinglassie is a small former mining village in central Fife, set on gently undulating lowland amid farmland and the "loch country" of the region. Historically it grew around coal workings, and the landscape still bears traces of that industrial past while offering easy access to green spaces such as Lochore Meadows Country Park and views towards the Lomond Hills.
Today the village retains a strong community feel with a mix of older stone buildings and more modern housing; many residents commute to nearby centres such as Glenrothes or Kirkcaldy for work. Local life revolves around community groups, the parish church and village events, and the economy has shifted from deep mining to services, light industry and leisure linked to the surrounding countryside.
