Rosyth is a small town on the north shore of the Firth of Forth in Fife, Scotland, originally planned as a garden‑city to house workers for the Royal Navy. Its position by the water defines much of its character: the historic Rosyth Dockyard and harbour dominated the local economy for much of the 20th century and the town still has visible naval and shipbuilding heritage alongside stretches of foreshore and views across to Edinburgh.
Today Rosyth feels partly like a commuter suburb for nearby Dunfermline and Edinburgh, with a rail link and road connections bringing people in and out, while the port area has been redeveloped for commercial use and light industry. Local life mixes practical working‑class roots with ongoing regeneration - community clubs, schools and modest retail reflect a town that has adapted from its military and maritime origins into a more mixed, outward‑looking place.
