Seana Bhaile is a small, typically uninhabited island off the coast of Na h-Eileanan Siar in the Outer Hebrides. Its Gaelic name, meaning "old town", hints at a long human presence and the landscape of machair, rocky skerries and sheltered bays that make it attractive to seabirds and wildflower communities.
Like many islands in the area, Seana Bhaile has a visible crofting past – traces of dwellings and grazing practices can often be seen – and it remains culturally tied to the surrounding Gaelic-speaking communities. Today it is valued more for conservation, seasonal grazing and low-key visits by walkers and birdwatchers than for any permanent economy, offering a quiet reminder of Hebridean history and landscape.
