Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders of Scotland is a compact, largely late‑20th‑century planned village on the southern edge of Galashiels, close to the banks of the River Tweed. It developed as a residential area with links to the region’s textile and mill history centred on nearby Galashiels and Melrose, and provides easy access to cultural landmarks such as Abbotsford and Melrose Abbey.
The village is best known today as the terminus of the Borders Railway, reopened in 2015, which gives a convenient rail link into Edinburgh and makes it popular with commuters; local life revolves around community facilities, shops and green spaces, while the surrounding countryside offers walking, fishing and cycling. Despite its modern origins, Tweedbank maintains a strong sense of Border identity and serves as a handy base for exploring the River Tweed valleys and nearby towns.
