Crumlin is a parish and former industrial village in the county borough of Caerphilly, in south‑eastern Wales. It sits on the northern fringe of the South Wales coalfield and grew rapidly in the 19th century with coal mining, ironworking and railway development; many Victorian terraces and stone buildings from that era still characterise the streets.
The community retains a strong local identity - with chapels, a rugby club and active community groups - and in recent decades has seen regeneration alongside a shift towards commuting to nearby centres such as Cardiff and Newport. Remnants of the mining and transport past remain visible around the parish and feed local interest in industrial archaeology and social history.
