Caerau is an electoral ward on the western edge of Cardiff in Wales. Predominantly residential, it was built largely as a post‑war council estate with roots in the city's industrial and coal‑mining past, and retains a close‑knit, working‑class character around local schools, shops and community centres.
The ward includes pockets of green space and sporting facilities and has been the focus of local regeneration and community projects aimed at improving employment, housing and youth services. Sitting within the Cardiff West area, many of its civic conversations centre on economic renewal and grassroots initiatives that keep the neighbourhood socially active.
