Grangetown is a compact, densely populated ward in the south of Cardiff, Wales, tucked between the River Taff and the River Ely and just inland from Cardiff Bay. Much of the area is made up of late‑Victorian terraced housing built for dock and industrial workers, and it is served by Grangetown railway station on local suburban lines, making it an easy commute into the city centre.
The ward is notable for its cultural diversity and strong community networks, with an active mix of independent shops, pubs and small cafés alongside long‑standing social clubs and community projects. While its industrial heritage and proximity to the waterfront have brought regeneration and new development pressures, many residents emphasise local identity and campaigning on housing and amenities, keeping Grangetown a lively and distinctive part of Cardiff.
