Ffynnongroyw is a small village on the north coast of Flintshire, Wales, perched above the dunes and salt marsh of the Dee Estuary with views out over the Irish Sea towards the Wirral. It sits close to the sandy strand at Talacre and is served by the A548 coast road that links it with nearby towns such as Prestatyn.
The name Ffynnongroyw is usually rendered as “clear well” and the village grew through late‑19th and 20th‑century coastal transport and local industry before becoming largely residential. Today it has a quiet, community feel with local shops, a primary school and clubs, while its proximity to the estuary and dunes makes it popular for walkers and birdwatchers and gives residents easy access to coastal scenery and the nearby Talacre lighthouse. Many people commute to larger towns for work, keeping the village a mix of long‑standing locals and newcomers.
