Tregarth is a small village in Gwynedd in north‑west Wales, lying a few miles south of Bangor and adjacent to Bethesda. It sits on the edge of Snowdonia, with easy access to the uplands and the rugged skyline of the Carneddau, so it appeals to walkers while also serving as a quiet commuter base for nearby towns.
Its character was largely formed by the 19th‑century slate industry centred on Penrhyn Quarry, and the village still shows terraced housing and community institutions from that era. Welsh remains widely spoken and there is an active local life of shops, chapels and a primary school; more recently the economy mixes commuting, tourism and outdoor‑recreation services linked to the surrounding mountains.
