Rachub is a small village in Gwynedd, sitting above Bethesda on the edge of Snowdonia. Tucked into the Ogwen Valley, it serves as a handy gateway for walkers heading into the surrounding mountains and offers broad views over the valley and peaks such as the nearby Glyderau and Carneddau.
Historically the village grew with the 19th‑century slate industry and many families once worked at the nearby Penrhyn Quarry, a heritage that still shows in the housing and chapel culture. Today Rachub remains largely Welsh‑speaking with a strong community feel, local shops and pubs, and many residents commuting to Bethesda or Bangor while enjoying easy access to outdoor recreation in the valley.
