Cemaes is a small coastal village on the north coast of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, sitting around a sheltered sandy bay with a compact natural harbour. The village is hemmed by rocky headlands and cliffs that form part of the popular Anglesey Coastal Path, making it a good spot for walkers and wildlife-watchers - seals and seabirds are frequent, and porpoises or dolphins are sometimes seen offshore.
Historically a modest fishing port, Cemaes retains a traditional village feel with a handful of local shops, pubs and holiday lets, and tourism now plays a big role in the local economy. The community is largely Welsh-speaking and village life has also been shaped in recent decades by the nearby Wylfa site and associated employment, while the harbour and coastline preserve much of the area’s maritime history.
