Amlwch is a small coastal town on the north‑east of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, set beside a sheltered harbour on the Irish Sea. The town is framed by the striking, copper‑stained slopes of nearby Parys Mountain, with coastal paths, a working port area and clear traces of its industrial past visible from the shoreline.
Historically Amlwch grew up around the late 18th‑century copper boom at Parys Mountain, when ore was loaded through the harbour and the town expanded rapidly; many of those mining remnants now form an appealing industrial‑heritage landscape. Today the local economy leans on small‑scale fishing, tourism and community services, and the town retains a compact centre and a strong local identity linked to its mining and maritime past.
