Cilfrew is a small village on the northern edge of Neath in the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, south-west Wales. It sits close to the rolling hills of the Swansea Valley and has straightforward road links to Swansea and the M4, so it feels like a quiet, semi-rural commuter settlement while still being within easy reach of larger towns.
Historically the village grew up with the coal, iron and tinplate industries that shaped much of South Wales, and remnants of former industrial and railway activity can still be traced locally. Today Cilfrew retains a strong community vibe centred on its primary school, village hall and local clubs, with outdoor walking and countryside close at hand and most employment now coming from nearby urban centres.
