The ward covering the villages of Brynna and Llanharan sits in Rhondda Cynon Taf in south Wales, a semi-rural pocket on the edge of the South Wales Valleys. It mixes farmland and rolling hills with pockets of suburban housing and small village centres, offering pleasant countryside views while being conveniently close to the M4 corridor and larger centres such as Cardiff and Bridgend.
Historically the area moved from agriculture into coal and light industry in the 19th and 20th centuries, and today it functions largely as a commuter and family-focused community with local shops, schools and active village life - including a strong rugby tradition and regular community events. Good road and rail links, nearby green spaces and a number of historic buildings give the area a blend of practical connectivity and a relaxed, rural character.
