Llantrisant

Llantrisant is a compact, historic market town in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, perched on a ridge above the surrounding countryside. Its narrow stone streets and the remains of a medieval castle hint at a long past - the town’s name literally means the parish of the three saints - and it still feels more like a traditional village than a suburban sprawl.

These days Llantrisant mixes rural charm with light industry: the Royal Mint’s production site and visitor centre is a major local employer, while surrounding commons and lanes attract walkers. It grew up as a market centre for the surrounding farmland and was shaped by the industrial era of the Valleys, yet retains independent shops, community events and easy access to larger centres such as Cardiff.
