Llanharan

Llanharan is a village and community in Rhondda Cynon Taf on the edge of the South Wales Valleys, set amid the flat farmland of the Vale of Glamorgan and within easy reach of Cardiff and Bridgend. Historically a farming settlement that grew with the arrival of the railway and the coal industry in the 19th century, it still retains an 18th-century country house, local period buildings and a visible mix of older cottages and newer housing.

Today Llanharan combines a commuter population with light industry and small local businesses, and community life is centred on the village hall, rugby club and other local organisations. The area feels like a transition between rural and suburban South Wales, with strong local identity and regular community events reflecting both agricultural roots and modern residential growth.
