Church Village sits in the Taff Ely area of Rhondda Cynon Taf in south-eastern Wales, a short drive north-west of Cardiff and close to towns such as Llantrisant and Pontypridd. The village occupies a spot on the edge of the upland valleys, offering easy access to open countryside while also being part of the commuter belt into the capital, so it feels suburban but with nearby rural walks and ridge views typical of The Valleys.
Historically the community grew with the industrial era that reshaped much of South Wales, and today it is largely residential with local shops, schools and active community and sports clubs that keep village life lively. Transport improvements, notably the bypass built to ease traffic through the area, have reinforced its role as a practical place to live for people working locally or in nearby towns and cities, while its name still reflects the old parish church that once defined the settlement.
