Llanyrafon is a largely residential community on the eastern edge of Cwmbran in the county borough of Torfaen, Wales. Much of the suburb was shaped by the post‑war new town development and sits around generous green space centred on the local lake and country park, which is a popular spot for walks, family days out and birdwatching.
Historically the area grew out of farmland and the wider industrial landscape of South Wales, but today it functions mainly as a commuter suburb with local shops, schools and community facilities. Good road links to nearby centres such as Newport and Cardiff, together with active volunteer groups and sports clubs, help sustain a quiet, family‑oriented community while keeping easy access to town services and the surrounding countryside.
