Wenvoe is a compact village and rural community in the Vale of Glamorgan, set on higher ground overlooking the surrounding rolling farmland with views towards Cardiff and the Bristol Channel. Its position on a limestone ridge gives it a distinctly pastoral feel while being only a short commute from the city, so the local economy mixes traditional agriculture with a significant commuter population and small local businesses.
Historically the area grew around a manor and an ancient parish church - St Mary’s Church remains a local landmark and there are remnants of the estate landscape linked to Wenvoe Castle. A very visible modern landmark is the Wenvoe Transmitting Station, its mast rising above the village. Community life is active for a place of its size, with village groups, a village hall and occasional local events that reflect both its agricultural roots and its role as a settled suburb of nearby urban centres.
