Dyfan is a suburban electoral ward in the Vale of Glamorgan, forming part of the town of Barry. It takes in the older settlement of Merthyr Dyfan, whose medieval parish and St Dyfan’s church testify to the area's long history, and today is largely residential with a mix of private and social housing, local schools and community centres.
Geographically it sits close to the coast and the leisure attractions of Barry Island, with decent road and bus links into Cardiff, so many residents commute while small shops, trades and community groups sustain the local economy. The ward combines historic landmarks and green spaces with the everyday social mix of a Welsh coastal town.
