Llangollen Rural is a community in Wrexham, Wales, surrounding but not including the market town of Llangollen. It comprises rolling farmland, the limestone escarpments of the Eglwyseg Hills and the lower slopes of the Berwyn range, with the dramatic waterways of the Llangollen Canal, the UNESCO‑listed Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Horseshoe Falls providing a striking, much‑visited landscape for walkers, climbers and canal boaters.
Historically shaped by 18th–19th century canal engineering and local quarrying, settlements such as Froncysyllte and Trevor retain a strong local identity - Froncysyllte being well known for its male voice choir. Agriculture remains important, but tourism and outdoor recreation now contribute significantly to the local economy, with community councils, village amenities and conservation of the historic and natural environment central to everyday life.
