Lozells

Lozells sits a short distance north‑west of Birmingham city centre, neighboured by areas such as Handsworth and Aston. It grew up in the 19th century as a residential and light‑industrial district, so a patchwork of Victorian terraces sits alongside later council housing and pockets of post‑war redevelopment.

Today it is a densely multicultural neighbourhood with long‑established Afro‑Caribbean and South Asian communities reflected in its shops, places of worship and community centres. The area has faced economic challenges and episodes of social tension in the past, but it also has active grassroots organisations, small businesses and a lively street culture that underpin ongoing regeneration efforts.
