Great Gidding is a small rural village and civil parish in the historic district of Huntingdonshire, in Cambridgeshire, England. Set amid arable, gently rolling countryside, it forms one of the three neighbouring settlements known as the Giddings, alongside Little Gidding and Steeple Gidding, and retains a quiet village character with traditional cottages and a strong sense of community.
The parish is often linked culturally to nearby Little Gidding, famed for the 17th‑century Ferrar religious community and its appearance in T. S. Eliot’s poem "Little Gidding", which draws occasional visitors; locally the economy remains largely agricultural with many residents commuting to market towns such as Huntingdon and Peterborough. Village life centres on local amenities and events, and the surrounding lanes and fields are popular for country walks and wildlife watching.
