Pendeen is a small village on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, perched on the western Penwith peninsula and looking out over the Atlantic from Pendeen Head, where the distinctive Pendeen Lighthouse stands. The area is marked by dramatic cliffs and coastal walking - part of the South West Coast Path - and retains a windswept, remote character that draws walkers, birdwatchers and anyone after big sea views.
Historically a mining community, Pendeen is surrounded by evidence of Cornwall’s industrial past: engine houses and workings, and the nearby Geevor Tin Mine, all forming part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape UNESCO World Heritage site. Today the village balances that heritage with small-scale tourism, farming and a quiet local life centred on community facilities and the ever-present landscape and seascape that define the place.
