Map of the UK

Portreath is a small coastal village and civil parish on the north coast of Cornwall, tucked into a steep-sided valley with a small sandy beach and a compact harbour. The dramatic coastline and cliffs are crossed by the South West Coast Path, making it a popular stop for walkers, surfers and sea‑kayakers, while local coves and wrecks attract divers.

The settlement grew up in the 18th–19th century as a busy port for exporting copper and tin from nearby mining areas around Camborne and Redruth, and traces of that industrial past are still visible in the harbour and surrounding buildings. Today the economy leans on tourism and leisure alongside a modest fishing and local service sector, and the village retains a strong community feel with village events, cafés and traditional pubs serving residents and visitors alike.
