Bournmoor is a small village and civil parish in County Durham, in the north‑east of England, lying a short distance west of Chester-le-Street and on the fringe of the Sunderland–Durham conurbation. It sits close to the A1(M) and retains a semi‑rural feel with pockets of green belt and farmland, while being within easy commuting distance of Sunderland and Newcastle.
Historically the settlement grew up around 19th‑century coal mining and the village still carries that industrial heritage in its street pattern and older buildings; today the local economy is largely residential with small shops, community facilities and village clubs supporting a close‑knit social life. Local pubs, sports teams and community events help maintain a strong village identity even as many residents commute to nearby towns and cities for work.
