Broughton Moor is a small village in the historic county of Cumberland in north‑west England, set on the coastal plain a short distance from the coastal town of Maryport and with views towards the Solway Firth and the distant fells of the Lake District. Its setting makes it a quiet, rural spot with good access to coastal walks and the wider landscape of north‑west Cumbria.
Historically the village grew around coal mining in the 19th and 20th centuries, and that industrial past still shapes the local character - former colliery land and terraces sit alongside newer housing. Today it is largely residential, home to a small, close‑knit community with many people commuting to nearby towns, while local interest centres on the mining heritage, countryside recreation and connections to the coastal and Roman history of the area.
