Crediton is a compact market town in Mid Devon, Devon, England, set on the banks of the River Creedy about 13 miles north‑west of Exeter and within easy reach of Dartmoor and the north Devon coast. Its countryside setting gives a mix of rolling farmland and wooded valleys and it still feels like a country town despite good road and rail links to the city.
Historically a medieval market and agricultural centre, Crediton is best known as the birthplace of St Boniface and for its large parish church dedicated to St Mary and St Boniface. The local economy has moved from wool and tanning to a mix of farming, small engineering and service businesses, and many residents commute to Exeter. The town retains a lively community scene with markets, local festivals and a modest arts and heritage offer that reflects its long history.
