Widecombe in the Moor is a small parish and village set on the eastern edge of Dartmoor within the district of Teignbridge, Devon, England. It sits amid granite tors, rolling moorland and enclosed farmland, with narrow lanes and traditional stone cottages that give a strong sense of place and countryside grit.
The parish is best known for the folk song "Widecombe Fair" and for its handsome medieval Church of St Pancras, whose carved bench-ends and local legends – including a dramatic 17th-century storm that became part of village lore – draw visitors. The local economy is a mix of upland farming, small businesses and tourism, with walkers, holiday cottages and a handful of pubs and community events helping sustain a close-knit rural community.
