Cantley is a residential suburb and civil parish on the eastern edge of Doncaster, historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. Once a small agricultural settlement, it expanded substantially through 20th‑century council and private housing, and today sits within easy reach of Doncaster town centre with good road and rail links to the wider region.
The area is mainly residential with local shops, schools, community centres and pockets of green space; recent years have seen targeted regeneration to improve housing and amenities. A strong local identity is evident in community groups and amateur sports clubs, while many residents commute into Doncaster and nearby centres for work.
