Ashmore is a small, quiet village and civil parish in north Dorset, close to the border with Wiltshire. Perched on the chalk downs within the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it enjoys elevated, open views across the surrounding countryside and retains a compact, traditional core of stone and thatched cottages clustered around a picturesque village green.
The village has a long history reflected in its medieval St Nicholas Church and the archaeological character of the surrounding landscape, where ancient earthworks and burial mounds are typical of the area. Economically and socially it remains largely rural, centred on farming with a modest number of visitors and residents drawn to its tranquillity; local life is quietly organised around the church, village events and the seasonal rhythms of the countryside.
