Chettle is a tiny village and civil parish in Dorset, set in gently rolling countryside a short distance from Blandford Forum. The settlement feels like a classic Dorset estate village, its identity dominated by the 18th‑century country house, Chettle House, together with its parkland and walled garden, which give the place much of its historic character.
The community is very small and tightly knit, with agriculture and estate management still shaping the local economy and landscape; quiet lanes, hedgerows and mixed farmland make it popular with walkers and wildlife enthusiasts, and the village’s layered history - medieval origins followed by Georgian remodelling and later conservation - is visible in its cottages and church.
