Mosterton is a small village in west Dorset, sitting close to the county border with Somerset and within easy reach of the market town of Beaminster. It occupies rolling countryside of mixed pasture and arable land, with narrow, hedged lanes and small streams that give the area a typically rural West Country feel; the village has simple local services and sits conveniently for nearby market centres and the coast.
The community is largely agricultural in character but combines long-standing farmsteads and stone cottages with more recent commuters and retirees, and retains a village hall, pub and active social life centred on local events. Historic roots are visible in the vernacular architecture, while attractions further afield include the beaches and geology of the Jurassic Coast and the lively market towns of the region.
