South Perrott is a small, tucked-away parish in west Dorset, close to the county boundary with Somerset. Set in gently rolling countryside of hedged fields and narrow lanes, it has the compact feel of a traditional rural settlement with stone and thatch cottages and a historic parish church and manor that attest to a long medieval and agricultural past.
Economically the area remains largely agricultural, with mixed arable and livestock farms, though its tranquillity and proximity to market towns and the Jurassic Coast mean it also draws walkers and visitors seeking the countryside. Social life tends to be village-centred, with local events and conservation-minded projects helping to keep community bonds strong despite the small population.
